The **TempTale® Ultra Dry Ice Probe** is a USB temperature data logger built for shipments packed in dry ice. Its external probe reads from -95°C to +30°C inside the shipper, while the monitor and LCD stay outside the box at a temperature the electronics can handle. Receivers can check alarm status and download a PDF report without opening the carton and letting the dry ice escape. This guide covers how the [TempTale® Ultra Dry Ice Probe](https://royalkana.com/product/temptale-ultra-dry-ice-probe) works, what it is used for, how it compares with other dry ice loggers, and how to order it from Dubai.
The [TempTale® Ultra Dry Ice Probe monitor](https://royalkana.com/product/temptale-ultra-dry-ice-probe) is part of the Sensitech TempTale® Ultra family. It records in-transit and storage temperatures of biological samples such as tissue and blood, and of biomedical and pharmaceutical products that must stay very cold to remain stable.
Dry ice sits at about -78.5°C. Most standard loggers stop working well before that point, so a logger placed inside a dry ice box can freeze, stop recording or drain its battery early. The Dry Ice Probe solves this by splitting the job in two:
Every time a dry ice shipper is opened, CO2 gas escapes and the payload warms. Keeping the box closed until it reaches the lab or freezer protects both the product and the validated pack-out.
Choose the **1 m probe** for parcel shippers where the monitor is taped to the outer carton. Choose the **3 m probe** for larger boxes, freezers, or where the monitor needs to sit further away from the cold source.
Royal Kana stocks three ways to monitor dry ice shipments. The right one depends on whether you need to read the logger without opening the box.
For shipments that stay between -30°C and +70°C, such as 2–8°C pharma or frozen food at -20°C, the standard [TempTale® Ultra Probe](https://royalkana.com/product/temptale-ultra-probe) gives the same outside-the-box reading at a lower range. Each TempTale® Ultra Dry Ice Probe ships with a 3-point NIST® traceable Certificate of Calibration and a validation manual. QA teams can file these with the shipment record, and the PDF report gives the receiver a readable temperature history without installing software. For more on what a certificate should contain, read [why NIST-traceable calibration certificates matter](https://royalkana.com/blog/data-logger-calibration-nist-traceable-certificates).
